python3-pyfits software package provides Python3 module for reading, writing, and manipulating FITS files, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install python3-pyfits
python3-pyfits is installed in your system.
Make ensure the python3-pyfits package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep python3-pyfits *
You will get with python3-pyfits package name, version, architecture and description in a table
